Man,I am nothing but a big latester. Try as I might, I just can't post regularly. It's not so much a lack of time, but a lack of discipline. My lovely friend Lanie Beth just did an "update" post, and by golly, I liked the idea. So here I go stealing her idea. Here's a run down of what's been going on in my life.
a) A good chunk of my time has been spent on the set of The Vampire Diaries. My "job" is acting natural as an extra. Sounds pretty easy, but pantomiming with a stranger can prove to be awkward. Extremely awkward. The pay is only so-so, but it's pretty interesting seeing how the show is made. Seriously, the time and effort that goes into a 30 second clip is astounding. Well, it's interesting when the extras actually get used. Patience is undoubtedly a virtue, because there is a whole. lot. of. waiting. Yesterday my call time was at 4pm, and we didn't leave till 3am. Out of the 11 hours we were there we were actually working maybe 4 or 5 of them. Oh, and then there's the egos. The GIANT egos. Sweet mother of pearl. But, that's a whole different post.
b) I joined the Henry County Special Olympics tennis team. I've only been to one practice, but I can tell it'll be fantastic. I've been wanting to do some volunteer work for a while, so when this opportunity came up I jumped at. The first weekend in November is the first tournament. I'm sure there will be some fun pictures to follow.
c) The living room "redo" project is still in progress. Since, I'll have a little cash flow from (a), it should move things along a little bit. And that makes me excited.
d) I've made one necklace since my last batch. Sad, huh? I just haven't had any creative juice in my blood lately. I really feel leery about making stuff "just because". Because then I won't be excited about putting them in the shop. Then if somebody buys one, I'll feel like I've gypped them. Maybe heading to the antique market will "inspire" me.
e) I didn't post about this weeks Monday Funday. But, I've got to be honest, not much happened. We ate waffles in bed and watched Macgyver. It was pretty magical and the highlight of the day. Then we went shopping, without buying anything. Then dinner at the misters favorite Mexican restaurant. (See...Macgyver and waffles was the high point.)
So there you have it. A "catch up" post.

i had no idea you were an extra! is that something you do regularly? sounds so glamorous! :) the olympic team sounds fun, and i can't wait to see pictures of your re-do! go thrifting, it always gets the creative juices flowing!
Hey! watch it. you know you like the chips and salsa ;] but Macgyver and waffles was pretty awesome.
Macgyver is the king of the mullet! Love that show. Have fun with tennis :) Love ya!
Happy weekend,
Jen
Ah, Macgyver... I love how everywhere he goes, all the people speak English. :)
The catchup post is pretty good! :) I know... I find it soooo hard to post regularly ... it's been over a week since I've posted anything. :(
Macgyver... LOVED that show. Where are you finding it? online? I'm going to have to do a little google-searching to find it... (I think my boys would love it!)
My sister lives down near Shreveport - and she's worked as an extra before - just for fun. When her father in law came down for a visit, he also got in on the action & thought it was pretty neat to see how part of a movie was made. I guess Shreveport is one of the nation's movie making capitals, so to speak. (weird, huh?)
Lori- This is the first time I've ever done extra work. I sumbitted a head shot kind of as a joke, and then got a call. I like doing it, but the hours that can be awful. And it's FAR from being glamorous. Maybe for the stars, but not for the measley extras. We can't even eat in the same room with them, without a curtain being put up. Silly huh?
Jon- Joel & I were just talking about that. I suppose English is universal in McGyver world.
Teresa- We have been watching McGyver on Netflix. But, I think you're right, a good Google search shoulddo the trick of finding it elsewhere.
And I had no idea that they filmed in Shreveport a lot. That'scool. (I know that taxes incentives are the reason why some production companies film here in Georgia.)
